Dollar General has more company-owned locations than any other retailer in the U.S. This puts us in a unique position to make a big impact with environmentally-friendly choices. We can make a world of difference.
Our recycling efforts prevent waste from going to our landfills on a massive scale. In fact, our recycling of cardboard alone is projected to save the equivalent of nearly 2.4 million trees a year. Used computer equipment, used store fixtures, office paper and plastic are among the many things Dollar General keeps out of our landfills with its aggressive recycling programs.
Our decision to use energy-efficient lighting and heating/air conditioning conserves energy as well as keeps costs low for our customers. We engage our shoppers – more than a billion of them each year – to care for our environment by making "green" choices. We do that by offering more planet-friendly products such as reusable shopping bags and green household cleaning products.
Making green choices is good for our business. It is good for our customers. And, it is good for the planet.
