You’ve Got a Friend: Assistant Store Manager Organizes Event For Community
When Kelly, an assistant store manager in Meridian, Mississippi, saw a need in her community, she decided to make a difference by Serving Others.
Kelly created and organized an event called Art of Autism where she hosted an art exhibition featuring work of local children with autism.
“The teachers and community were in full support. We had artwork coming to us from all over the country including some pieces from Missouri,” says Kelly. “I was hoping to have 20 children participate, but thanks to our community, over 60 children submitted 87 pieces of artwork.”
Customer Diamond D. is a special needs teacher and one of the individuals Kelly reached out to for artwork. “My autistic students created art for the art show and they had a blast. A lot of my autistic students find it hard to express themselves, but boy did they light up that day,” says Diamond. “Kelly put on a huge event with not just the artwork, but a bounce house and fire truck. Everyone had so much fun, and I wanted to thank Kelly for really going above and beyond for the community.”
